Self Belief

When it comes to flying, what is more important to a bird?

When it comes to flying, what is more important to a bird?

The fact that it has wings or the belief that it can fly?

There are a few birds with wings that cannot fly and there are a few animals without wings that can “fly”.

Flying fish, flying snakes, gliding possums and ballooning spiders are some of the animals that can fly.

Even humans can fly. Why is this?

Self belief is the key to success when it comes to flying.

Or for success in anything for that matter.

If you don’t believe in yourself, then it won’t happen. It doesn’t matter what other people believe, you determine what you can or cannot do by your beliefs.

**What is self belief? **

Self belief is believing in yourself.

It’s similar, but different to confidence as confidence is a trust in self that is usually a result of past experiences.

Self belief is faith in oneself and does not require past experiences or external inputs for proof.

Why is self belief important?

Self belief is critical for success. Without it, it’s hard to achieve anything. With it, you can achieve anything.

Self belief will make you feel good about yourself.

It will motivate you and give you the inner strength to persevere in times of challenge.

It will amplify your confidence and reduce self doubt.

Self belief is beneficial for your mental health.

How is self belief cultivated?

Here’s four tactics to improve your self belief.

  1. Remove negative self talk. This is possibly the most important thing to do. Studies have shown that negative self talk has a more powerful affect than positive self talk, so this must be aggressively addressed. Negative self talk must not exist.

  2. Positive self talk is next. You need to program your mind with positive messages about yourself. Write these down and say these aloud to yourself whenever you get a chance to improve your self belief.

  3. Invest in yourself, physically, mentally, and spiritually. Improving yourself and making these aspects stronger and tougher will increase your self belief.

  4. Lastly, do not compare yourself to others. This comparison is unfair as no one else is experiencing life with its ups and down exactly like you. You might perceive someone else as more advanced than you in a particular aspect, however, they may have spent more time and more resources than you to get there, so relatively, you’re ahead, but aren’t aware of it. Focus on your own progress, and use this to fuel your positive self talk.

Whether you believe or don’t believe, you will be right.

To succeed, you must believe in yourself.

Grow and nurture your self belief.

With self belief you will soar higher than any eagle, and as high as you dare to achieve.
